Terms of Service
These Terms explain how UniBookr works and what you agree to when you use the app. We’ve written them in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us at support@unibookr.com.
By creating an account or using UniBookr, you agree to these Terms.
1. What UniBookr is
UniBookr is a marketplace that connects university students with student service providers (e.g. hair, nails, tutoring, photography). We provide the platform. Providers provide the actual services.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.
- One account per person. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password safe. You’re responsible for everything that happens under your account.
“Verified Student” badge
This badge just means the account holder confirmed a working .edu email at the listed school. It is not a background check, a license, or a guarantee of skill.
3. If you book a service (clients)
- You pay through UniBookr at checkout — never hand cash to a provider to skip the app’s safety features.
- If the service has a deposit, the deposit is non-refundable unless the provider cancels or no-shows.
- A 1% platform fee is added to your total at checkout. This is what keeps UniBookr running.
- Card processing (Stripe) charges a standard ~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. This is paid by the provider out of their earnings — it does not appear as a separate line on your bill.
- Show up on time. Be respectful. Honest reviews only — no fake reviews, no paid reviews.
4. If you offer services (providers)
You set your own prices, schedule, and policies. UniBookr is not your employer.
How payouts work
- The 1% UniBookr fee is added on top of your price and paid by the client. It does not come out of your earnings.
- Stripe’s standard processing fee (~2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) is deducted from your payout.
- The rest is sent to your connected Stripe account immediately when the client pays — no waiting on a manual payout from us.
- Client pays: $220 + $2.20 platform fee = $222.20
- Stripe processing fee (from the provider’s side): ~$6.74
- UniBookr receives: $2.20 (from the client’s side)
- Provider receives: ~$213.26, directly to their Stripe account
You’re responsible for your own taxes. UniBookr does not withhold or file taxes for you.
5. Refunds, cancellations, and disputes
Every provider sets their own cancellation and refund policy on their profile. Always read it before booking.
- Clients can request a refund if the provider cancels, no-shows, or clearly fails to deliver the service.
- Deposits are non-refundable for late cancellations, unless the provider chooses otherwise.
- UniBookr may step in and issue a refund directly in cases of fraud, safety issues, or clear platform abuse.
- If a client disputes a charge and Stripe sides with the client, the refund is pulled from your Stripe balance.
- Stripe also charges a chargeback fee (currently $15), which you owe.
- If your Stripe balance is empty, Stripe may pull the money from your linked bank account to cover it, or carry a negative balance until your next payouts.
- By accepting bookings on UniBookr, you authorize UniBookr and Stripe to reverse, debit, or hold funds in your connected Stripe account to cover refunds, chargebacks, or disputes initiated by clients.
- You agree to honor your published cancellation and refund policy. Repeated chargebacks may cause your account to be suspended.
6. Bids & counter-offers
Drop-In Bids let clients propose a price. Providers can accept, counter, or ignore. Sending a bid or counter-offer is a commitment to that price and those terms — once the other side accepts, the booking is binding. You can edit or withdraw a bid before it’s accepted.
7. Things you can’t do
- No harassment, threats, hate speech, or sharing other people’s private info.
- No illegal services, sexually explicit services, or anything that puts someone’s health or safety at risk.
- No fake reviews, paid reviews, or trying to silence honest reviews.
- No scraping, reverse-engineering, or abusing the app.
We may suspend or permanently remove any account that breaks these rules, with or without notice.
8. Content you post
You own the photos, videos, and text you upload. By posting them, you give UniBookr permission to display them inside the app and in promotional material that features the app itself. Don’t upload anything you don’t have the rights to.
9. Safety & liability
UniBookr is a marketplace platform. We don’t perform the services, and we’re not responsible for what happens before, during, or after an appointment. Use common sense: meet in safe, agreed-upon locations, check reviews, and trust your instincts.
10. Account deletion & suspension
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete. We can suspend or remove accounts that break these Terms.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If we do, we’ll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use UniBookr after a change means you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.
